Digital Project Manager
6-month full-time appointment
Based in Edinburgh with travel to Regional Gardens
Starting salary £39.5k pro rata (Band E)
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) are seeking an IT Project Manager to deliver the successful implementation of digital infrastructure projects, including a new Collections Management System and an enhanced approach to cyber security.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is one of the world’s top four botanic gardens based on the quality, breadth and depth of our science, plant collections, public engagement, and education. We are at a hugely exciting time in our 350 year history as we look to deliver the Edinburgh Biomes project, a seven year capital build programme to restore our heritage glasshouses, create a stunning new public glasshouse, and build new research facilities.
Our Herbarium is a world-leading collection of over 3 million preserved plant and fungi specimens dating back to 1697, representing over half of the world’s flora. Currently around 1 million of these specimens have been databased in a specialist database, and we are now looking to migrate the details into a new SQL collections management system. We are now looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead us through this work. In addition, the postholder will assist with the implementation of our cyber security programme by managing key elements and internal resources within the department.
Applicants will need to have proven experience in delivering projects, ideally using Agile methods. You will need strong communication skills and be able to balance a number of competing priorities, and stakeholder management skills will also be important. A good working knowledge of cyber security essentials will also be required.
Full details of the post, including a job description and person specification can be downloaded from our website: https://www.rbge.org.uk/about-us/working-with-us/vacancies/
Interested applicants should send a CV and covering letter which outlines your suitability for this post as well as a completed online equal opportunities questionnaire by midday on Monday 6th September. Interviews are likely to be held the week commencing the 13th September.
If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has not been shortlisted.
No recruitment agencies please.
