We invite applications for a two-year, joint industry/government supported Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of British Columbia’s campus in Kelowna (UBCO), British Columbia, Canada. Research will be carried out in collaboration with Enduro Metals – A B.C. based mineral exploration company. The goal of this research program is to explore the structural controls, timing and paragenesis of mineralization-related assemblages in the Golden Triangle of British Columbia. More specifically, this project will aim to quantify the history of both mineralizing and non-mineralizing fluid movement within Enduro’s Newmont Lake property through a combination of field observation, geochemical analysis, detailed petrology and in-situ geochronology.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have demonstrated expertise in relevant disciplines (e.g., geochronology, metamorphic/ore petrology, microanalysis), a history of scientific output and strong interpersonal skills. All candidates with a diverse range of applicable experiences and backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work with Professor Kyle Larson and myself in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences. The postdoctoral fellow will have full access to the world-class analytical facilities at UBCO including the Fipke Laboratory for Trace Element Research (FiLTER), which houses an TESCAN MIRA 3 XMU SEM with EDS, BSE and EBSD capabilities, a Cameca SXFive EMPA, an Agilent 8900 QQQ-ICP-MS and a Photon Machines Excimer laser (set to be replaced by a NWR193 laser with a TwoVol3 ablation cell in the coming months).
To apply, please send an expression of interest and a CV to [log in to unmask] Reference letters are not required at the time of application, but please include contact details for three referees.
