Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for cross-posting. I’m writing to share details of the online launch for the book 'A Watershed Moment for Social Policy and Human Rights? Where next for the UK Post-COVID’, by Drs. Amy Clair, Jasmine Fledderjohann, and Bran Knowles.
The book considers inequalities both before and during the pandemic in four key domains: medical care, food, housing, and access to digital technology. Importantly, it highlights how the social problems observed during the pandemic in fact stem from long-standing structural inequalities linked to erosion of social protection policies over the past several decades. The book identifies the pitfalls in relying on charities and big tech to resolve these social problems, and explains why this is a pivotal moment for social policy--one which could, with active investment, result in a more equitable and just system going forward.
You can register on Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/book-launch-event-tickets-159964228313) to attend the Online Book Launch Event on 20th July 14:00 – 15:30 BST.
There will be a brief introduction of the book, followed by insightful talks by the guest speakers Drs. Aaron Reeves, Kayleigh Garthwaite and Daniel Greene. Professor Karen Broadhurst will be chairing the event.
Please feel free to get in touch ([log in to unmask]) if you have any question.
Kind regards,
Jasmine Fledderjohann
