Call for Contributions
World Sustainable Development Teach-In Day 2021 - A Global Movement to support the implementation of the SDGs
Date: 2 December 2020 / Venue: Online
The World Sustainable Development Teach-In Day 2021 (WSDTID 2021) is the second edition of a decade-long global movement that aims to raise and spread awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. It is a major online event that aims to showcase and accelerate progress towards achieving the UN SDGs.
Against this background, we invite applications from experienced sustainability lecturers who are interested to present meaningful approaches, initiatives or projects which resemble a concrete contribution to achieving one or more SDGs. To be considered as part of the WSD-TID 2021, applicants are asked to address one of the three key categories of the event:
- People Dimension – SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11
- Planet Dimension – SDGs 6, 13, 14, 15
- Prosperity Dimension – SDGs 8, 9, 10, 12
There are two modes of participation:
• Live Lectures (Track A): Be part of our exclusive “Sustainability Lectures”, where we will feature selected sustainability experts in a live lecture format on 2 December 2021. This format will be facilitated by our team, we will set up dedicated virtual lecturing halls and will promote these live lectures widely to a worldwide audience.
• DIY Sustainability Lecture (Track B): Apply for this track if you can set up and independently manage your own live lecture within the framework of WSDTID 2021. It can be done in either online or offline mode via tools such as Zoom, Skype, Google Meet etc., and you have the opportunity to feature your lecture on the central Teach-In Day Platform.
To apply for either track, please visit the event website (www.esssr.eu/wsdtid/) where you will find detailed guidance on what to submit. The deadline for applications is 31 May 2021.
The WSDTID is organized by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) and the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP) and led by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and Manchester Metropolitan University (UK).
