Dear all,
The LGIU is launching its brand new Local Democracy Research Centre with an online panel discussion next Thursday 16 June, from 10:00am - 11:30am. Please email [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] to sign up.
More information about the event here: https://lgiu.org/event/report-research-centre-launch-a-new-settlement-place-and-wellbeing-in-local-government/
The event coincides with the publication of a new report on the importance of place and wellbeing in public policy following the Covid-19 pandemic. The report argues that levelling-up must be connected with a coherent programme of decentralisation and calls for a new post-pandemic settlement built around place.
The speakers on the panel will be:
Dr Patrick Diamond, Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at Queen Mary, University of London
Dr Arianna Giovannini, Associate Professor in Local Politics and Public Policy at De Montfort University
Professor James Mitchell, Professor of Public Policy at The University of Edinburgh
Dr Mark Callanan, Lecturer at the Institute of Public Administration, Ireland
The Local Democracy Research Centre will bring together researchers, academics and local policy makers for practical, co-produced research projects in the UK and internationally. We are on the lookout for partners and opportunities, so please get in touch if we might be able to work together ([log in to unmask])
best wishes,
Dr Andrew Walker
Director, Local Democracy Research Centre
Head of Research, LGIU
