Hi all,
In relation to this query from Richard I would be also interested to know how may sites are using mainly POCT testing for NICU patients. We have been asked to review if we can expand the current blood gas/glucose meter service in NICU to include other general biochemistry tests - ideally with the need for as small a sample volume as possible. We have a regional neonatal service here in our Trust that will deal with very pre-term infants with very low blood volumes. Repeated lab sampling for U&E and LFTs etc. can lead to some neonates requiring blood transfusions due to sampling for testing alone.
I would be keen to hear what others are doing for their neonatal hospital patient group in terms of POCT support.
Thanks for any feedback.
Kind regards,
Gareth

Subject: Glucose Meters for NICU
Good Morning
Looking to help scope the market on behalf of my colleagues in NICU.
Looking or some recommendations.
1) We have been looking for a glucose meter with performance optimised to exclude hypoglycaemia in NICU. Is there anyone willing to recommend one?
2) We are also looking for a sample collection device to draw the sample with minimal injury, again, has anyone found an outstanding device that can minimise injury on repeated sampling.
Happy to hear any recommendations
Many thanks
Richard Kua
