Dear All,
We are pleased to invite you to the final seminar of the Alliance Manchester Business Work and Equalities Institute final PGR seminar seminar of the ‘Tackling contemporary research challenges in uncertain times’ series. The session "Addressing issues surrounding the ethnocentrism of research" will be held on 18th June on zoom from 1pm to 3:00 pm.
Dr Jenny Rodrigues (AMBS), Dr Sadhvi Dar (QML) and professor Anders Neergaard (Linköping University) will be discussing their experiences, practices and understandings of ethnocentrism in research. This session aims to address the ethnocentrism of contemporary research, dealing with issues such as experiences of otherness in research, both as the role of the researcher as well as the way in which findings and issues are translated to accommodate knowledge to fit dominant paradigms. Hereby losing the voices and knowledge presented by other places and people. The problem that needs to be resolved with dominant theory from "the West", and how doctoral students deal with the tensions this poses. More information on the session can be found attached and on the eventbrite link below.
