Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce our plans for the 2021 *II Digital Geographies Conference*. We are planning a virtual conference. We are keen to take this as an opportunity to make the conference more inclusive and increase its global reach.
In this edition, the II Digital Geographies Conference approaches the debates on the platform economy.
The conference will take place from *28 to 29 October, 2021*.
We are excited to have two wonderful keynote talks given by *Professor Sarah Elwood* (University of Washington) and *Professor Rob Kitchin* (Maynooth University).
*Call for Papers – May 31, 2021*
The call for papers will be until 31 May, 2021. We are accepting abstract proposals (250 words) and will be in touch with all contributors once this process is complete, to confirm acceptance and advise on next steps. Authors will be notified by 30 June, 2021.
We invite both conceptual and empirical papers that consider a critical perspective on the platform economy and what it can generate, including, but not limited to:
– Theoretical discussions about the platform economy (challenges, opportunities, reflections);
– Platform economy, open innovation and value cocreation;
– Platforms and consumer experience (e-commerce, delivery);
– Labour precarity (gig economy), Algorithmic management, Intermediation, Micro-Tasking and Deskilling processes;
– Cyber-divisions;
– Digital inequalities (gender, ethnic, class, spatial);
