This year's competition is for poetry on any subject.
There are no style or length restrictions, but it should be stressed that a short poem is just as likely to be selected as a longer one.

This course looks at the interaction between poetry and music, how music can inspire poetry and the use of poetry as lyric. The musical properties of poetry, rhythm and line choices, and new ways to use sonic devices in poetry. We will be looking for many opportunities to develop these ideas into poems. This is a continuation course from our original Ekphrastic Poetry Course aim of this course is to look at the different approaches that can be taken to bring new insights to poems that engage with a broader range of Ekphrastic poetry. During the course poets will be asked to respond to a series of paintings using a variety of techniques. Poems will be workshopped, and full feedback given. The cost of this course is £30

This is a short online course for poets who want to look at the ways to engage with the naural world, and look at the impact of human activities on the world around us. Summer School 2rd August– 5th September 2021 - New content
These year’s 5-week Summer School focuses on contemporary 21st Century Poetry. With exercises, tutorials and reliable feedback the students will explore different poetry styles. They will be introduced to new ways to approach their own poetry and helped to develop skills that will ensure that they will be able to develop further as poets. They will undertake a personal project and get help in identifying their strengths so that they can get the very best from their poetry. The Summer School is online over a five week period at a cost of £45
