I had missed it on my trawl through because it was not indexed as VLM.
It would be good also to find the printed source that my copy came from, and then we have to decide which is correct !
I see that AKHJ has cropped his image more tightly and thus lost the building up high in the trees, which I had assumed to be ‘Tavy Cottage’ – the former Mine manager’s house. It is, however, clearly the same original photo.

A version of this image appears in A K Hamilton Jenkin's /Mines of
Dartmoor Volume 1/ (D&C 1974). The caption says it is dressing floors
at Lady Bertha Mine c1890. A figure on the extreme right, trimmed from
your version, is Captain Skewes. There is no acknowledgement of source
so I assume it comes from AKHJ's own collection.
