Dear all,

University of the Arts London have launched a national study exploring how people are engaging with online cultural experiences during lockdown - including theatre, opera, dance, museums and galleries, gaming, performances, festivals, immersive experiences and other audience events that we would normally enjoy away from home.

The survey is part of the UAL and multi-partner research project 'Digital, Regeneration and Experience Economy modelling' (DREEm:) - funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) under its Covid-19 rapid response initiative. Survey responses will play a vital role in supporting the UK's creative, cultural, experience and visitor economies as we come out of lockdown and work towards recovery. The survey is open to all adults. It asks about the kinds of audience activities you have engaged with during lockdown, how you perceive these experiences and how they might impact your audience behaviour in the future.

Research team and partners
DREEm: is a cross-disciplinary project led by UAL: Principal Investigator Professor Jane Harris, Director of Research and Innovation (Stratford), London College of Fashion, UAL. The research team includes co-investigators Dr Rebecca Hawkins, Responsible Hospitality Partnership Limited (RHP); and Dr Thomas Bashford-Rogers, University of the West of England, with expertise in computer sciences, modelling and machine learning; and Postdoctoral Research Assistants Francesco Mazzarella, Research Fellow in Fashion and Design for Social Change, Centre for Sustainable Fashion, LCF, UAL; Stephen Whelan, with expertise in film and digital production, XR and emerging technologies, and Dr Victoria Young with expertise in audiences, cultural policy, museums and galleries. It is project managed by Dr James Harvey, Research and Knowledge Exchange Development Manager, with expertise in film and screen media, UAL.

The research is carried out in collaboration with 3 AHRC, Industry Strategy funded, Creative R&D Partnerships: InGame, Abertay University, Dundee; Clwstwr, led by Cardiff University; XR Stories, University of York, and an important group of UK wide partners from the visitor, cultural and performance sectors – including Sadler’s Wells, Ambassador Theatre Group, Framestore, Royal Opera House, Creative Scotland, Visit Scotland, and Visit County Durham, South East Creative Economy Network, Studio Wayne MacGregor, Northern Ireland Tourism Alliance and The Mill.
