‘The Personal as Political’ – an online seminar series presented by the OU’s Contemporary Cultures of Writing research group – continues in April.
The third seminar in the series is The Personal as Political in Theatre, Tuesday 13th April, 6-7pm, which features two leading figures in the field: award-winning playwright Paul Sirett, and Jenny Sealey, MBE, Artistic Director of Graeae, a D/deaf and disabled-led theatre company.
Sealey and Sirett will discuss a range of issues relevant to contemporary theatre, as well as their work together with Graeae. The event is chaired by Joanne Reardon, a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the Open University, whose first novel, The Weight of Bones, is published by Cinnamon Press.
As with other seminars in the series, the free event will be hosted in conjunction with the Institute of English Studies, on Zoom. The event is captioned, and there will be BSL interpreters. Registration is via Eventbrite, here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-personal-as-political-in-theatre-jenny-sealey-and-paul-sirett-tickets-148748680307
