Are you interested in applying your statistical and modelling skills to the modelling of natural catastrophes?
Risk Management Solutions (RMS) is the world's leading provider of mathematical models and information related to the financial impact of natural catastrophes.
Our Model Development department has fifty PhD scientists based in London from a variety of disciplines, building mathematical models that predict damage caused by tropical storms, extra-tropical storms, thunderstorms, storm surges, freshwater floods and tsunamis.
Working in the Model Development department offers a great opportunity to combine scientific research with commercial experience.
We are currently recruiting for a role in the tropical cyclone team in London.
We are looking for candidates with a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. Statistics, Meteorology, Climate Science, Applied Mathematics or closely related areas).
If you are a statistician, key requirements are: research experience in a climate-related field and an interest in learning about tropical cyclones.
Candidates should have demonstrated success in developing sophisticated mathematical models, a strong ability in programming languages such as R and Fortran, and the ability to communicate effectively with people with disparate backgrounds.
