I have a discussion with Radiology today about this very issue! We don't currently deploy POC in this area but they have asked many times. Patients presenting without a valid eGFR, U&E, AKI is down to referrers not ordering bloods before the radiology appointment i.e. the root cause. So concentrating on improving that first!

Subject: POCT eGFR and AKI query in Radiology settings
Hi All,
I just wondered if anyone is using istat or Nova for eGFR in your Radiology department? There is a concern from the lab that it will not provide an AKI score so wondered for those POCT analysers delpoyed in the Radilogy department to assess eGFR when patients are given media contrast how do you get round the problem of no AKI score available via POCT eGFR. Do you send take a second sample for the lab just trying to find out what is done out there. Many thanks!
Kindest regards
Darren
