Dear All,
A reminder that Dr Hannah Hughes will deliver the inaugural AMG-North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers (NEIMM) annual lecture tomorrow, Thursday the 18th of February at 18:00pm (GMT). Entitled 'The Curious Case of Lamprophyres in the Mine', Hannah will discuss how applied mineralogy can be used to design engineering solutions to underground mine gas outbursts. It's free but please use this link to register https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-curious-case-of-lamprophyres-in-the-mine-tickets-125450502831.
On Monday the 22nd of February at 9:30am (GMT) the AMG is hosting a rare earth element workshop. Following a 'refresher' lecture from Dr Marc-Alban Millet (Cardiff University), Dr Michael Anenburg (ANU, Canberra) will introduce a new method and software for calculating lambdas, this will be followed by a lecture by Dr Morgan Williams (CSIRO) on pyrolite. This is also free but registration is necessary https://www.minersoc.org/ree-software-workshop.html.
Best wishes,
