I also read that it was better to keep your threads from the same on the same gpu, so I did 7 mpi, 1 master and 6 slaves so each gpu got two threads. This may not be true though. I could do 7 and 3 in this case, but again, I didn't think that it would make a difference since most the work was being done by the gpu. If you say more threads is better, I will try.
Log in to the node by ssh while a job is running (or run a job by submitting an interactive job),
check CPU and GPU usage by top and nvidia-smi.
For Class2D, GPU usage should be closed to 100 %. If it is significantly below 100 %,
while CPU are fully utilized, your CPU is too weak.
