With health systems stretched to their limit in 2020, finding ways to improve access to cancer diagnosis and optimization of treatment for cardiovascular disease is now more important than ever. We are looking for an experienced Medical Statistician or Epidemiologist to join our award-winning, multidisciplinary team, contributing to work to improve pathways to cancer diagnosis and to predicting who is most likely to benefit and suffer harm from the medications they take.
The post will be embedded within both the Cancer Research Group and Stratified Treatments Research Group in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, working with Dr Brian Nicholson, Dr Jason Oke, Dr James Sheppard and Dr Constantinos Koshiaris.
Responsibilities will include carrying out statistical or epidemiological analyses of data from large prospective cohorts, or electronic health records datasets, such as the CPRD, UK Biobank, RCGP RSC and other large international data sets. Expertise with statistical modelling techniques such as cox, logistic and linear regression is essential. The successful post holder will also provide advice on research design, contribute to the writing of protocols and research articles, formulate new research questions, and prepare grant applications for new research projects.
You will hold, or be close to completion of, a relevant postgraduate qualification in Statistics, Epidemiology or related subject, have experience of managing and manipulating large and complex datasets, and proficiency in a statistical software programming language e.g. Stata, R, or SAS.
