You are warmly invited to the SIG Developing, Teaching and Testing Academic Listeners second ‘praxis’ workshop. This will take place on Friday 5th March (16:00-17:00 UK time). More details and a registration link can be found below. Please note that due to the nature of the activity, this praxis workshop will not be recorded.

Moving forward, we will organise both ‘standard’ webinars and praxis workshops (online) as part of the special interest group activities. This ‘praxis’ workshops (PW) will be different to previous ‘standard’ webinars:

•	Each PW will have a different theme related to academic listening.
•	We will let you know the theme of the PW a few weeks beforehand and provide one or two pieces of suggested reading on the theme. The texts are intended as a springboard for discussion. However, you do not need to have read the articles ahead of the PWs to participate.
•	The PW will begin with a (very) short summary of key points from the suggested article(s).
•	This will be followed by small group discussions on the themes/issues raised in the articles and time to share and discuss your own practice in EAP in relation to these.
•	We will then have time for whole group feedback and discussion.

The theme for this second praxis workshop is ‘assessing academic listening’ and the suggested texts are the following:

Taylor, L. and Geranpayeh, A. 2011. Assessing Listening for Academic Purposes: Defining and Operationalising the Test Construct. Journal of English for Academic Purposes. 10 pp. 89-101

Lynch, T. 2011. Academic Listening in the 21st Century: Reviewing a Decade of Research. Journal of English for Academic Purposes. 10 pp. 79-88

We know that some people will have library access because of their working context. However, if you do not and have issues accessing these articles, please contact us at [log in to unmask]
