Job opportunity: 19-month Research Associate post linked to the ESRC funded project entitled “Indigenous development alternatives: An urban youth perspective from Bolivia”.
The project explores the dynamic interactions of urbanisation, youth activism and indigenous development alternatives in Bolivia.
The successful candidate will possess a completed PhD in a relevant social science discipline, with regional expertise on Latin America and experience in qualitative fieldwork. An interest or expertise in indigenous rights, youth geographies and participatory urban research are also desired. The successful candidate must be able to both write and speak fluently in Spanish and English, obtain excellent analysis and writing skills, as well as a willingness to work remotely and collaboratively in intercultural settings. Experience in organising events and working with an array of stakeholders is also desired.
Successful candidates will be based in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield and work with Philipp Horn, the principal investigator of the project, as well as academic and activist partners in Bolivia. Covid-19 restrictions permitting, the job will also involve extensive field research in different urban areas in Bolivia.

Oportunidad de trabajo: Puesto (19 meses) de investigador asociado (postdoc) vinculado al proyecto financiado por la ESRC titulado “Indigenous development alternatives: An urban youth perspective from Bolivia”.
El proyecto explora las interacciones dinámicas de la urbanización, el activismo juvenil y alternativas al desarrollo.
La persona seleccionada deberá poseer un PhD completo en una disciplina de ciencias sociales relevante, con experiencia regional en América Latina y experiencia en trabajo de campo cualitativo. También se desea un interés o experiencia en derechos indígenas, geografías juveniles e investigación acción participativa. La persona seleccionado debe ser capaz de escribir y hablar con fluidez en español e inglés, obtener excelentes habilidades de análisis y escritura, así como la voluntad de trabajar de forma remota y colaborativa en entornos interculturales. También se desea experiencia en la organización de eventos y en el trabajo con una variedad de partes interesadas.
La persona seleccionada se ubicará en el Department of Urban Studies and Planning de la Universidad de Sheffield (Inglaterra) y trabajará con Philipp Horn, el investigador principal del proyecto, así como con socios académicos y activistas en Bolivia. Si las restricciones de Covid-19 lo permiten, el trabajo también involucrará periodos de trabajo de campo en diferentes áreas urbanas de Bolivia.
