Information Manager
Based in Worcester with flexible working options available
Grade: PO3
Salary: £37,724 - £40,506
Hours: 35 per week
Fixed term for 2 years
About us
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed-term Information Manager to join the Corporate Information Governance Team (CIGT) at Worcestershire County Council. CIGT is the central resource for information governance and records management for Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Children First. The team is part of the IT & Digital Service within the Commercial & Change Directorate.
What you will be doing
The Council has begun a programme of IT transformation to enable effective collaboration both internally and externally using an approved and supported set of systems and tools. Through the deployment of Office 365 platforms including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online, staff will be supported in their flexible and mobile work environment and empowered by technology to achieve better outcomes.
The Information Manager’s primary role will be developing an information governance framework to support this programme of transformation. The initial focus will be on information governance for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online, including:
• Creating corporate standards, policies and electronic records management practices
• Establishing and delivering associated training to staff
• Managing the provisioning and decommissioning of Office 365 sites
• Configuration and maintenance of the Microsoft 365 Compliance Centre
• Developing a digital strategy for seamlessly transferring corporate records to the Archive & Archaeology Service for permanent retention
During the second phase of development the successful candidate will facilitate the migration of the Council’s file shares into the Team’s SharePoint sites. This will require the establishment of a strategy to manage the appraisal, extraction and migration of data into the appropriate sites.
You will constantly be identifying new ways of working through technology and presenting the cases to relevant stakeholders before implementing the changes.
In addition, you will lead on the information management workstreams of commissioning projects to ensure compliance with legislation and organisational requirements leading to positive outcomes for all parties.
About you
The successful candidate will have an abundance of experience in a records/information management setting and be confident in delivering transformational change through technology. You will be experienced in embedding information governance best practices through the use of Microsoft Teams and leading on the transition from corporate file shares to the use of SharePoint Online as an EDRMS. Your expert knowledge of information legislation, including Freedom of Information and Data Protection, will support your ability to deliver and manage digital solutions.
You will be a confident communicator who can build strong working relationships with senior staff, influencing and persuading key stakeholders in relation to information management best practice.
An ability to lift boxes, some of which may be heavy, is required. Manual handling training will be provided.
Why work for us?
Worcestershire is not only an amazing place to live, work and visit; we are home to exciting businesses, have one of the fastest growing economies in the UK and are working closely with our partners to make "World Class Worcestershire" a reality. Our organisation, Worcestershire County Council, has gone through unprecedented change and we are continuing to transform our services. Our Corporate Plan continues to evolve but its focus areas remain constant; Open for Business, Children and Families, Health and Wellbeing and The Environment.
Worcestershire County Council offers flexible working options to suit both employee and employer. Whether our people work from the office, home or other sites, it’s what they do rather than where they do it that matters to us. As long as we deliver, we are pretty flexible about when our people work too.
Some of our standout benefits include:
• Great holiday entitlement. As well as bank holidays, you'll get 25 days paid holiday (pro rata for part-time staff). This goes up to 30 days when you have been with us for 5 years. If you get more than 25 days where you work now, don't worry because if you join us without a break, we'll match your holiday up to 30 days.
• Brilliant pension scheme. The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a nationwide, career average pension scheme and is a valuable part of the pay and reward package for employees working in local government.
• Childcare Voucher Scheme. If you have children, you can save money by using our Childcare Voucher scheme to help towards your childcare costs.
The role will be based at County Hall, Worcester. The team is currently working from home due to coronavirus guidance, however staff are occasionally required to access the site for essential business purposes.
