Schools/Colleges and other examination centres have been asked by Ofqual to obtain spoken language statements for private entrants or their own entrants for languages they do not teach. A similar procedure could now extend to evidence of the other three skills: reading, writing and listening. This webinar will support community/supplementary school/private teachers to provide the spoken language statement and prepare evidence of achievement across all skills.
Ofqual had agreed that the endorsement level could be provided by a supplementary school or community school, by a private tutor or by a speaker of the language who is not a relative or friend of the student who will act as Assessor.
A consultation on the assessment of students has been announced and the webinar will provide details of this and how to respond.
NRCSE has been working with examination boards, the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), the British Council and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on MFL to hold this webinar and representatives from those organisations will be attending. There is firm commitment from all sectors that home/heritage language learners should not be disadvantaged by the cancellation of Summer 2021 exams in the way they were last year.

Dear Forum teachers,
My students have been studying Mandarin in the community language school. Their year groups vary from yr7- yr13. Their individual schools were going to enrolled them to take the GCSE exam for this year. With now the exam been replaced by teacher assessment, I am wondering how a private candidate can take GCSE this year? they have been learning outside school because their school didn't offer Chinese in their year group as within timetabled lesson. I am wondering what happened to this kind of students last year when GCSE exam was cancelled in 2020? I would love to hear from you experience or advice. Thank you very much.
Best Regards
Ellen
