Our ICC ZOOM Public Meeting on *How to find your ancestral family in
India* last
Sunday (3/1/21) was an eye-opener. Little did I know this: Compared to
topics like politics, governance, law, health, business, education, the
economy, race relations, culture and the arts, Indians in the Diaspora are
more interested in learning about how to find their ancestral relatives in
India (family history and genealogy).
Scores of people wanted to join our meeting but could not because we had
reached our maximum ZOOM subscription limit of 100 participants in the
virtual room. There were also thousands of others viewing it live stream on
other social media networks. In the circumstances, we plan to schedule
another meeting on the same topic next month, Sunday, February 7, 2021,
FOCUSING on Questions and Answers (Q+A) for more audience participation.

My preliminary research reveals that *migrant Venezuelan women* prefer to
cohabit with Indo rather than Afro-Trinidadian men. They claim that Indian
men look more like them phenotypically, and that they are more likely to
provide a house and a home for stability and security.
The trending news story (5/1/21) of the death of Aarif Mohammed of Tunapuna
confirms this preliminary finding. His wife was Mayerkys Gonzales, a
Venezuelan, who said they were living together for two years and he was
never abusive to her.

We are pleased to announce that almost all our ZOOM public meetings have
been uploaded to our website (see link below) as well as to YouTube
permanently for posterity. These developments make our reach wider, bigger,
better and stronger.
The topics of these meetings are mainly on and about Indians, but the forum
is not for Indians only. OUR MISSION: To bring the Indian Diaspora in the
Caribbean closer together for intellectual discussions, unity, solidarity
and empowerment every Sunday night on one platform, following the Black
Lives Matter Movement. OUR VISION: To achieve a better understanding and
appreciation of ourselves in seeking to create a diverse, just, equitable
and non-discriminatory society in which Indo-Caribbeans thrive harmoniously
with other ethnic groups.
