Subject: [BSA-RACE] FW: Law Society research on its relationship with slavery and colonialism - looking for researcher/s
From: Vaughn, Leona <[log in to unmask]>
Dear Colleagues
Just received a copy of this call from Law Society – short deadline (18 Jan) but thought it useful to share.
Kind regards
Leona
Dr Leona Vaughn
Derby Fellow – Slavery and Unfree Labour Research Theme
The Law Society is looking for a researcher/s interested in a project they are commissioning to investigate the Law Society’s links with historical slavery and colonialism:
"We want to understand and document the relationship between Law Society and that of its key figures to slavery and colonialism, so that we can discuss this history and its modern impact with our members. This will involve primary and secondary research; investigating relevant archives including TLS’s archive and the UCL Legacies of British Slave-Ownership; performing a thorough literature review; interviewing appropriate experts; and collating all findings into a comprehensive summary report. See more details in the attached proposal"
Researchers who might be interested should respond by 18 January.
Very best wishes, Laura
Marketing, Recruitment and Events Team
