My Council has recently introduced electronic signatures. I did not have any direct involvement - they were introduced by our TI function.
However from a Records Management point of view I would suggest the key thing for document preservation is to ensure that the signed documents and their associated audit documents are both downloaded from the portal for whatever system you use, and stored as PDF's in the appropriate record keeping system.
