Yes, 'all of the above', as Sheila says. A quality of Sheila's poetics
which I applaud is in inviting the reader into the creative process. (Maybe
like The Death of the Author by Barthes.) I read so many metaphors within
metaphors and cross-reference by many images in her poems. I don't play
'pin the tail on the donkey' with poetry. A close reading, line by line and
word by word, can kill a poem I find I lose the same multilayered
perspective when I try to write down a dream.
