Overview
Over the last few years, many software products have been announced with various degrees of success for the Knowledge Management market. This half day online course provides the opportunity to learn about the features that are on offer, to discuss their relative values, what they show about how the suppliers think about our Knowledge Management needs, and whether they are right.
Real Knowledge Management’s Dion Lindsay, a KM consultant and trainer with understanding of how KM is currently being developed in the workplace, will be leading with analysis of the products emerging since September 2018, and facilitating discussion in plenary and breakout groups looking for insights and practical applications.
Topics covered include:
• The supplier perspective - the rush to market for KM products, and what it tells us as KIM professionals
• The user perspective – what makes sense in the information professional context?
• Digital innovations in KM – do they represent new concepts and value?
By the end of the course you will be able to:
• Represent your library and information unit’s interest in inhouse discussions about digital KM developments
• Read critically through KM product material
• Create a checklist of features to watch out for on behalf of your enterprise or for your professional development
Who should attend?
• Librarians and Information Managers who want to take their services into the KM space
• Information Professionals needing to develop a practical interest in KM products
• Strategic managers who want to understand KM discussions in the context of the continuing digitisation of their enterprise
Course Leader
Dion Lindsay is a highly experienced trainer and consultant, and workshop leader, with interests covering Knowledge Management in commercial, government and charity environments. He ran early KM experiments in the civil service and was Knowledge Manager for the Motor Neurone Disease Association before becoming a full-time trainer and consultant.
