Location:Bristol
Salary:£24,907 to £30,615
Do you want to join a large, enthusiastic team of statisticians who help to save and improve lives? The Statistics and Clinical Studies group of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is responsible for the design and analysis of studies in organ and tissue donation and transplantation, blood donation and transfusion medicine. The group incorporates the NHSBT Clinical Trials Unit, which is responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials in all areas of NHSBT’s activity. The analysis and interpretation of results of all our studies inform decision-making on developments in donation, transplantation and transfusion, the clinical care of donors and patients, and equity of access to treatment.
You will be required to carry out statistical analyses of data arising from observational studies and clinical trials in blood, organ and tissue donation, organ transplantation and transfusion medicine. This also involves reporting results to other staff in NHSBT, specialist advisory groups, the Department of Health, clinical staff in blood and transplantation services and other interested parties.
This post is an opportunity for someone with a degree or postgraduate qualification in a statistical or numerate subject (or equivalent experience) to join our committed team of statisticians and become involved in extremely rewarding work using a broad range of statistical skills. There are great opportunities for personal development and career progression. The post will involve collaborative work with clinicians and others working in organ transplantation, blood donation and haematology, and so the individual appointed will have excellent communication skills. The ability to work to deadlines, both individually and as part of a team, is essential, and knowledge of the SAS software is also desirable (full training will be provided).
We are advertising for 2 posts both fixed term 1 post for 2 years and 1 post for 12 months. The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday.
