I won't have the opportunity to check anything as it's going to run unattended via powershell. At some random time, a longer value will enter the database views for a particular column which is greater than the intial schema length when the SQL MA was created. e.g. the longest group name we have at the moment is 7 chars so the SQL MA has marked that column as length 7. That will expand to 20+ at some point in the view without warning.

Yes, MIM will expect consistency when it queries it. If it changes it’s as simple as right clicking the MA and refresh schema though.

Worst case you could take a view of your view and convert it in the second view so it remains consistent to MIM.

Does anyone know if MIM expects fixed length columns for the SQL MA? I've been told our view column lengths will change to accomodate the longest value currently in use. e.g. ObjectID will start of VARCHAR(7) but may changed to VARCHAR(20) and keep changing over time as the data changes. Will this cause MIM problems?

I noticed if the column length of ObjectID is different between the objet and multi-value tables, SQL MA won't let you choose the object type but that's for tables. No idea for views.
