Please note that the Mining Institute Library is still closed for refurbishment with most stock in store - the pandemic has delayed work.
I volunteer in the Library and have access to some stuff from home so will see if I can find anything useful.
And, of course, as the obituary shows its H.W.Lake.

Thanks Michael - short answer 'no'. The pandemic has put a temporary hold on library / archival research so I am focusing on on-line resources at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion.
My interest in Col. Lake is just a 'side issue' of a much larger project. I am working on a biography of the famous British Mineralogist Sir Arthur Russell and currently compiling short biographical sketches of people whose collections he acquired - Lake's being one of them.
As you have seen, Malcolm Street has kindly directed me to a summary of his obituary from the Trans. IMM, which Google failed to turn up (although it did find two others on the NMRS website that mentioned Lake).
Best wishes to all
Roy
