IHR Modern German History Seminar
Black Lives Matter in German History, 14 October 2020, 5.30-7 pm (London), online (Zoom)
Robbie Aitken (Sheffield Hallam University), Tiffany Florvil (University of New Mexico), Kira Thurman (University of Michigan), Philipp Khabo Koepsell (independent scholar), and Jeff Bowersox (University College London)
Research in Black German Studies has been underway for decades, but this year has seen new urgency and wider attention, partially triggered by the Black Lives Matter movement in the US and partially by homegrown violence and racism against minorities in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Our role as researchers and educators in this context and how broader survey modules can integrate this rich subdiscipline are subject of this first event in the IHR Modern German History Seminar series. Join us on 14 October 2020 for a panel discussion with academics and activists in Black German Studies.
Please register here (https://www.history.ac.uk/seminars/modern-german-history) by noon of the day of the event to receive the link to join us.
And please feel free to pass on this notice to any and all who might be interested.
