Hi everybody,
Hope you are all ready for clean air day.
We've been doing social media stuff all week - and some of our anti-idling leaflets have the following phrase:
"An idling engine can produce up to twice as many exhaust emissions as an engine in motion."
Google tells me that exactly the same phrase is used all over the place in anti-idling leaflets and promotion. Numerous councils from up and down the country report this as a fact. We've been asked to provide a source for this claim - but i'm struggling to find one. Can anyone help or explain the science behind this? Or are we all (myself included) just parroting a phrase without checking the source or the science?
Thanks in advance
Matt
