Post: Freelance Project Archivist – West of Scotland Football Club
Location: Kirkintilloch
Overview:
Following a grant from the Business Archives Council, East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture (EDLC) are looking for a freelance project archivist to catalogue the records of the West of Scotland Football Club.
The West of Scotland Football Club was founded in 1865 and is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Scotland (football in the name is historical). The club was one of the founding members of the Scottish Rugby Union and has produced a significant number of international players. The Club, based in Milngavie, provides rugby for all ages and prides itself in being a vibrant part of the community.
The records, which are already box listed, span 56 boxes, and cover the period 1870s-1990s. You will be responsible for cataloguing the records to international archive standards and publishing the catalogue online.
The successful candidate will possess a post-graduate qualification in archives and records management, and have demonstrable experience of cataloguing archives.
Experience of using Axiell Collections/Adlib for Archives, or the Archives Hub Editor would be an advantage.
Fee:
There will be a fee of £4,000 for 32 days work (between November 2020 and March 2021).
This is a freelance contract, the post holder will be expected to pay their own tax and NI.
Work location:
The post holder will be based at EDLC Archives and Local Studies Department, William Patrick Library, Kirkintilloch. They will work with 1 or 2 people at any one time adhering to social distancing measures and COVID health and safety protocol. Training in COVID procedures will be provided.
Contract:
The contract is a flexible working pattern which will be agreed when the contract begins. Please note due to the current pandemic project completion date may change.
Main duties & responsibilities:
• Check contents of boxes against existing box list and make any amendments.
• Research and draft collection level description
• Agree collection arrangement with EDLC Archivist, identifying series etc
• Agree cataloguing priorities with EDLC Archivist
• Catalogue collection to ISAD(g), ISAAR (CPF), NCA Rules
• Flag any items suitable for later digitisation/exhibition/reminiscence work
