Dear colleagues
I have had a request from a colleague in the production team at Natural New Zealand who is currently working on creating a story about sponges.
Imogen would like to access video or time-lapse photography of separated cells from different sponges mixed and reforming into respective specimens along the line of the classic 20s experiments that we are all familiar with, thus demonstrating the amazing ability of individual sponges (and sponge species) to recognise each other (as an immunological or self-self-recognition response) and to reform into individual sponges once they have been separated into a petri dish.
Please contact Imogen directly if you can help her.
Kind regards
Michelle Kelly
