Dear all
The Finance and Economics special interest group<https://rss.org.uk/membership/rss-groups-and-committees/special-interest-groups/finance-and-economic/> of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is looking for new members to join its committee.
The special interest group (SIG) aims to promote the use of statistics and statistical methodology in economics and finance. The SIG held its inaugural event<https://rss.org.uk/news-publication/news-publications/2020/section-group-reports/finance-and-economics-sig-inaugural-meeting-report/> this year on administrative data sources and the opportunities and challenges they provide.
We welcome applications from more professionals working in the industry, all areas are welcome. We are particularly looking for people who are keen to contribute new ideas for SIG activities and actively help organise events.
As a committee member, there will be opportunities to actively engage with others with interest in statistics in finance and economics. We hold three committee meetings per year, which can be attended in person at Errol Street, London (travel expenses paid), or remotely by teleconference. Much of our core business is communicated over email.
If you are interested, send an email to Jia Shao at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by Tuesday 20 October 2020, with a paragraph (up to 200 words) summarising your background, why you want to join, and topics you want to explore through events.
The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
