Edinburgh Poverty Commission was set up in November 2018 as an independent group working together to define the actions we need to take to end poverty in Edinburgh.
Over 15 months we held 100 evidence sessions and project visits, met and heard from over 70 local organisations, commissioned significant new research into the experience of citizens living on low incomes and attitudes to poverty across the city and in total heard from more than 1,000 individual participants.
On 30 September 2020, we invite you to join us in the launch of our final report calling the city to action, including the Council, public sector organisations, the third sector, business, communities and citizens.
Collectively we know that poverty and inequality act as a drag on growth and impact negatively on wellbeing for all. Therefore, ending poverty in Edinburgh benefits all of us.
The Chair of the Commission, Dr Jim McCormick will introduce the event with a keynote setting out the report’s actions for immediate, medium- and long-term targets to end poverty in Edinburgh.
This will be followed by input from citizens who have informed our thinking and will be carrying on the work of the Commission.
There will also be an opportunity for participants to take part in a Question and Answer session, and the event will conclude with a response from the city.
After you have registered, you will also have the opportunity to submit a question by email in advance, for the Q&A session.
For those unable to join on the day, a link to a recording of the webinar will be posted on the Commission's website.
