We are delighted to announce three positions for 34 months at the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Maastricht University, to work on the development of the first ever infrastructure for 3D scholarship. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic research team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in the Netherlands and beyond, including The Common Lab Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (CLARIAH), the Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), as well as the 4D research Lab at the University of Amsterdam, Erfgoed Leiden en Omstreken, Gemeente Maastricht, Nederlands Mijnmuseum, and Museum van Bommel van Dam.
PURE3D will address the challenges of access and long-term preservation of 3D scholarship by developing:
An access infrastructure for viewing interactive 3D models (from single objects to virtual worlds) within the context of a scholarly publication format (3D Scholarly Editions);
A preservation repository to deposit raw files, which, due to their size, format, lack of standards etc., are typically inaccessible to researchers beyond the original creators;
A conceptual and methodological framework for valorising and evaluating 3D scholarship;
A centre of excellence for researchers embarking on 3D scholarship.
The following positions are open to be filled for 34 months:
Postdoctoral Researcher, ‘3D Visualisation & Interface Design’ (80% research & 20% teaching). More info: https://bit.ly/postdocPURE3D
