Hello
Some of you may have noticed that the Serpentine Galleries put out a new
initiative called "Future Art Ecosystems" ( https://futureartecosystems.org/ )
with an initial text that attempts to take stock of the ways New Media Art
(or what they call Artists x Advanced Technologies) can develop and
flourish with support from industry and institutions.
It is a great read, but contains a lot of holes and seems to come from a
perspective that I find hard to reconcile with the desires of artists.
I've put together a response to the briefing here.
https://testset.io/2020/07/16/the-business-of-future-art-ecosystems/
I'm curious what others think of this Serpentine initiative and how it
rings to the ears of the independent curators on this list.
