Libraries in Exceptional Times
Wednesday 22 July 10.30-12.30

Following the success of our Reading for Wellbeing event in June 2019, CLIC return with another free professional development event for library staff across Cardiff.

Libraries in Exceptional Times is a free digital event reflecting on lessons learned during lockdown and looking ahead to planning for the future of libraries.

With perspectives from speakers from NHS Libraries, University Libraries, Public Libraries and School Libraries. Speakers include:

Ayub Khan MBE (Head of Libraries, Warwickshire County Council)
Ayub is Head of Universal Services for Warwickshire County Council. He is an active member of several national bodies representing arts and culture including Arts Council England (Midlands), the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, the English Folk and Dance. Ayub’s interest extends to international development, with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. He has worked on library developments for the British Council in several countries.

Sarah Bruch (Prince Philip Hospital Library and Knowledge Services Manager)
Sarah has worked in Prince Philip Hospital Library since 2001 working from an assistant librarian to becoming the library manager. She currently looks after the NHS Wales Twitter account, and co-organised the 2019 European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) conference in Cardiff. She always wanted to work in a library, apart from a short dalliance at the age of 8 when she wanted to be a milliner (she was probably reading a book about hats at that point!).

Alison King (Librarian and Literacy Lead, Kings Monkton School, Cardiff)
Alison is the Literacy Lead, Librarian and PSHE coordinator at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff. She is the Welsh judge for the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway awards 2020-2021 and her favourite books include DuMaurier's Jamaica Inn, Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day and Sanderson's Stormlight Archive.

Emma Adamson (Director of Learning Services, University of South Wales)
Emma oversees the delivery of Learning Services (Careers & Employability Services, Library Services, and Student Development & Study Skills services) at the University of South Wales. She has worked in libraries and information management for over twenty years, at USW for the last 4.5 years, and has worked at some point in each of the universities in Cardiff. Emma is a former Chair of WHELF, a member of CILIP and Sconul, and is an elected member of the British Library's Advisory Council. 1984 by George Orwell is the public library book that made her seek out a professional career in information.

This event is free and will be hosted on Zoom. You will be sent a link and password after you register. We welcome library staff and trainees from across the UK and beyond, but please note that this event will have some elements that focus on libraries in Cardiff.

We would really appreciate if you could support us by circulating this email with your colleagues and professional networks.

Many thanks,
CLIC Committee

Llyfrgelloedd mewn Cyfnod Eithriadol
Dydd Mercher 22 Gorffennaf 10.30-12.30

Yn dilyn llwyddiant ein digwyddiad Darllen er Lles ym Mis Mehefin 2019, mae CLIC yn dychwelyd gyda digwyddiad datblygu proffesiynol arall am ddim ar gyfer staff llyfrgelloedd ledled Caerdydd.

Mae Llyfrgelloedd mewn Cyfnod Eithriadol yn ddigwyddiad digidol am ddim sy’n myfyrio ar y gwersi a ddysgwyd yn ystod y cyfnod cloi ac yn edrych ymlaen at gynllunio ar gyfer dyfodol llyfrgelloedd.

Gyda phersbectifau gan siaradwyr o Lyfrgelloedd y GIG, Llyfrgelloedd Prifysgolion, Llyfrgelloedd Cyhoeddus a Llyfrgelloedd Ysgolion. Y siaradwyr fydd:

Ayub Khan MBE (Pennaeth Llyfrgelloedd, Cyngor Sir Swydd Warwick)
Mae Ayub yn Bennaeth Gwasanaethau Cyffredinol yng Nghyngor Sir Swydd Warwick. Mae’n aelod gweithgar o nifer o gyrff cenedlaethol sy’n cynrychioli’r celfyddydau a diwylliant gan gynnwys Arts Council England (Canolbarth Lloegr), y Birmingham Repertory Theatre, a’r English Folk and Dance. Mae diddordeb Ayub yn ymestyn i ddatblygu rhyngwladol, gyda ffocws cryf ar amrywiaeth a chynhwysiant. Mae wedi gweithio ar ddatblygiadau llyfrgelloedd i’r Cyngor Prydeinig mewn nifer o wledydd.

Mae Sarah yn gweithio yn Llyfrgell Ysbyty’r Tywysog Philip ers 2001 gan weithio i fyny o lyfrgellydd cynorthwyol i fod yn rheolwr y llyfrgell. Ar hyn o bryd mae’n gofalu am gyfrif Twitter GIG Cymru, a chydreolodd gynhadledd 2019 Cymdeithas Ewrop Gwybodaeth Iechyd a Llyfrgelloedd (EAHIL) yng Nghaerdydd. Bu hi eisiau gweithio mewn llyfrgell erioed, ar wahân i fympwy byrhoedlog yn 8 oed pan roedd arni hi eisiau bod yn hetwraig (mae’n debyg ei bod yn darllen llyfr am hetiau ar y pryd!).

Alison King (Llyfrgellydd ac Arweinydd Llythrennedd, Ysgol Kings Monkton, Caerdydd)
Alison King yw Arweinydd Llythrennedd, Llyfrgellydd a chydlynwyr ABGI yn Ysgol Kings Monkton, Caerdydd. Mae hi wedi gweithio mewn llyfrgelloedd ac ym maes rheoli gwybodaeth ers dros ugain mlynedd, ac ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru ers y 4.5 mlynedd diwethaf, ac ar ryw adeg bu’n gweithio ym mhob un o’r prifysgolion yng Nghaerdydd.Mae Emma yn gyn-Gadeirydd WHELF, yn aelod o CILIP a Sconul, ac mae’n aelod etholedig o Gyngor Ymgynghorol Y Llyfrgell Brydeinig. 1984 gan George Orwell yw’r llyfr llyfrgell cyhoeddus a wnaeth iddi fynd am yrfa proffesiynol mewn gwybodaeth.

Mae’r digwyddiad am ddim a chaiff ei gynnal ar Zoom. Caiff dolen a chyfrinair eu hanfon atoch ar ôl i chi gofrestru. Rydym yn croesawu staff llyfrgelloedd a hyfforddeion o ledled y DU a’r tu hwnt, ond bydd rhai elfennau sy’n canolbwyntio ar lyfrgelloedd yng Nghaerdydd yn y digwyddiad hwn. Cofiwch y bydd y digwyddiad hwn yn cael ei gyflwyno yn Saesneg.

Cofrestrwch yma: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/libraries-in-exceptional-times-tickets-111129013872
