Dear Rachael
As part of on-going verification we have a policy that anyone with a POCT glucose >20 or < 3 (for the first time) should have a sample sent to the lab to confirm. I realise this doesn't help you at the initial stage.
Best Wishes
Paula

Subject: Re: Blood Glucose Meters
Hi Rachael,
In the past I have done this while running an Insulin tolerance test. Not a test regularly done in any way, but the Trust I was at did a couple a week.
I did some during OGTTs as well, patients consenting to have a small syringe of blood also taken at the time as their formal samples. But again this was some time ago.
This was a new meter coming on to market.
For meters already on market - I would say that EQA data, and discussion with current users is probably adequate?
Kind regards
Katy

Subject: Blood Glucose Meters
Afternoon all
Please advise; The evaluation of Blood Glucose meters and the Patient Comparison Study: how have you all gone about sourcing patient samples to process in the lab taken at the same time as the capillary bloods please?
Many thanks
