Dear colleagues,
For wards' PT-INR measurements, we are still using the discontinued CoguCheck XS Pro devices which were purchased by our Haematology Lab possibly 8 years ago.
Due to age of devices, I have completed the Trust risk registration form and am in the process of securing fund to upgrade the CoguCheck XS Pro possibly to CoaguChek Pro2. However, learning from your experience and troubles you had with Pro2, I am a little bit concerned now.
Using the discontinued devices, we have had no trouble up to now as you described with the device or the middleware not to recognise the QC or not to accept the obtained QC results.
From my past experience I can only say that usually updating the firmware or the middleware have always resulted in more troubles and loss of functionalities.
Q. I am trying to learn from you by asking a simple question that what would you do if you were in my situation and had more options before implementation of Pro2 please?
Kind regards
Mansour
WUTH

Hi Gemma,
Yes we were also told to press the power button for 2 seconds to put the meters into standby mode when placed on the dock. This had nothing to do with the QC Lockout for us but was due to the battery running down and the meter being lifeless when staff went to use it next.
It would have been nice for Roche to have told us that when we upgraded from the previous model!
