It may be that the shielding advice could be extended, who knows. A lot depends on the person's job role. I would suggest undertaking a risk assessment approach. Use the Covid-age approach and the SOM RTW tools within your assessment. There will be a further SOM tool that although primarily aimed at SMEs it may be useful for you to look at. It is due to be uploaded to the SOM web-page any time now.
With all due respect to the worker's GP/ medical specialists they are not as familiar with the workplace and the controls that have been put in place as you are. As the relative of somebody who is shielding the workplace can be made as safe as possible but we have no control over their commute to and from work. For people who can undertake an admin role Is there any way that the person could continue to work from home?
Hope this helps
Anne

Hello everyone
I am looking at how we are able to support those people who have been shielding in the NHS which ends on 30 June : what is the government advice on this
My view would be that we need to take advice from the employees Gp and medical specialists in the first instance .
I feel quite tentative about enabling a RTW without this advice
There is a plethora of information out there and so I wonder if I have missed some updated info on this issue
Thanks to all in advance
