Hope this finds everyone well, and looking forward to the summer.
I start my NQT this September and have really benefitted from the sharing of resources and experience, thank you all.
I used to work in educational experiences outside the classroom (EOTC) in China. My collaborators there have used this time to adapt and develop to the new circumstances, where students have had more exposure to blended learning.
The British Council commissioned them to try and bridge the gap for the graduates on the UK-China programme, so that they might still ‘visit’ China, albeit digitally. This is ongoing work.
If your school might be interested in this sort of virtual visit, please contact me off-list, and maybe think about what it would be? For example:
1. Replacement for cancelled visit – perhaps package of 5 activities/ places, with a focus on culture, interaction with locals, learning activities
2. A class-based or one-off group ‘visit’ – with a focus on language, culture, with local interaction
3. Something different that you have thought about and need help to make happen!
Nothing is the same as before, but if it makes us find new ways to let people see, hear and maybe touch/ smell China, then 有志者事竟成!
Tori
