Hi Jean,
At RGU we are holding our Boards online (normally on Teams or Blackboard Collaborate) - the Officer in Attendance emails the External Examiners immediately after the Board asking them to confirm by return email that they are in agreement with the recommendations of the Assessment Board. Their email(s) is then retained with the official set of results (signed spreadsheets).
We have had a few Boards and this has worked well.

Subject: Question re External Examiners and capturing their approval of Board decisions
Dear colleagues
Could I ask, how you are capturing external examiner approval/sign off of your awards? Normally at our face-to-face meetings, we would ask Externals to sign a hard copy signature sheet confirming awards at the end of the Exam Board meeting, but as we are not in normal times, I am suggesting on online version of this. Our Exam Boards will be held using MS Teams, so we will be asking the secretaries type into the sig sheet who attended on the day of the meeting. Then for awards approvals, Externals will be asked to email confirmation, or perhaps a copy of the MS Team chat can be taken. By MS Team chat I'm suggesting that at the end of the Final Board meeting, the Chair could ask the Externals to provide their approval in the chat (something simple like - I approve). Then secretaries could take a copy of that bit of the chat for that External and provide it with the sig sheet.
I would be grateful for your views on this.
