It's very pleasing for Claire, Helen and myself as organisers to know that
positive things continue to spill out from the 'Walking's New Movements'
conference in Plymouth last November.
We have been working over the last few months to prepare a new publication -
'Walking Bodies' - with a selection of provocations, papers and performance
documentations from the conference. The editing work is almost complete and
we look forward to announcing its publication within the not too distant
future.
Best wishes,
Phil Smith

Subject: Walkspace in Birmingham
Hello everyone,
Been lurking for a while and figured it was about time to surface! I'm part
of Walkspace, a new collective of walking artists / writers based in
Stirchley, south Birmingham. We've long had walking as part of our practices
and were inspired to come together and Do Something Together after the
Pymouth conference last Autumn.
The idea was to run a bunch of group walks to seed a community - that
obviously fell by the wayside but we're keen to keep the momentum. Currently
we're building foundations for bigger projects by mapping all the weird
stuff we've spotted on our lockdown walks as a resource for artistic japes.
And we plan to build our collective from the current four to double figures
and beyond.
Enough wittering - everything's on the website.
