This 3-year PhD project is a collaboration between the Professor Vincent Deary (Department of Psychology), Professor Tim Rapley (Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing) at Northumbria University and Professor Julia Newton (Newcastle University and the North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Sciences Networks).
The PhD studentship, available on a full-time basis will start in Sept 2020.
The Academic Health Sciences Networks (AHSNs) were set up to enable cultures of collaboration between industry, academia and the NHS. They seek to accelerate the spread of innovation and thus impact on patient and population health and regional economies. Each AHSN - of which there are 15 - has its own modus operandi, tailored to its context. This studentship will explore how North East and North Cumbria AHSN understands, enables, supports and sustains innovation. The project will involve mainly qualitative research, potentially including some ethnographic work, as well as analysis of existing (quantitative) data.
The studentship would suit candidates who have studied social science and/or health at an
undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and have an understanding and
commitment to theoretically informed approaches to rigorous qualitative research.
Applications should be received no later than 5pm Friday 15th May 2020
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Professor Deary ([log in to unmask]) or Professor Rapley ([log in to unmask])
before applying.
