Hi David

Did you verify the Menarini? How was the performance compared to your lab method? And has it been connected?

Many thanks

Haval

we're using Menarini - run it from lab

20mins run time. Key thing is making sure users don't flood it with requests - have set pathway and priorities!!

Subject: Rapid testing for COVID-19

Hi all

Like many Trusts, we’re aiming to resume some services now the COVID-19 peak has passed. Keeping covid and non-covid patients separate is going to be a major challenge and we’ve been asked to look into rapid testing to help with this. I’d be interested to hear from any Trusts where this has been implemented – which method do you use, where is the machine located and which group of staff test the samples? i.e. is it true POCT or is it in the lab, run by BMS staff?
One of our clinicians is keen on the Cepheid GeneXpert test which apparently takes 45-60 mins. He says he knows of several sites using this - I suspect these sites already had the machines in place for flu testing. I don’t know what our chances of getting hold of one, with a reliable supply of test cartridges, are given the global demand.

Many thanks
Victoria
