I am asking this on behalf of another organisation. Please see below:
We have been discussing how to manage our corporate finance records when they reach the end of their retention period (which is 6 years plus current year). We use Microsoft Dynamics365 Finance and Operations as our finance and HR system. We have discovered there is no standard built in means of either deleting the record, or minimising the personal information in a record. Our research has also found guidance from Microsoft stating posted or completed transactions can’t be modified, which is why it’s not a feature in D365.
Our concern is that if we cannot delete or minimise records in D365, we will end up processing personal data contained in our corporate financial transaction records for longer than is necessary (a GDPR issue), and for longer than stated in our published retention schedule.
The questions are:
1. How do others manage records in similar finance systems?
2. Have any users of D365 found a solution to this?
