Dear all,
I'm involved in a rather exciting project to tell the story of the conservation profession going back through the past seventy years (from the Monuments Men to conservators addressing the climate crisis). Undeterred by the fact that all the archives are locked and all funding streams have evaporated, we're going to start crowdsourcing a timeline, and collecting stories and pictures from the people who've lived this history. We were liking the idea of doing it via a wiki (as I think the Participatory Museum did a few years ago?) -- but I've never done one of these before, and could do with some advice on where to start.
In particular, is there one fixed route to getting a wiki to set up on, or several options - what are the ownership issues of any material that goes on a project wiki, and do people have any advice about how to manage it constructively. If you've done something like this for any purpose, and can point me to the final result, I'd be really interested to see. Grateful for comments on or offlist.
Best wishes,
Kate
