A Ph.D. position is available in Dr. Komogortsev’s lab starting Fall 2020.
Duties and Responsibilities: advance eye tracking sensors and such eye tracking applications as user authentication, health assessment, foveated rendering, etc. Work on eye tracking sensor design, raw eye positional signal filtering, eye movement filtering, eye movement classification algorithms, feature extraction and selection algorithms. Work on applications in Augmented and Virtual Reality that employ created algorithms.
Qualifications: The candidates are expected to have background in either Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related area. Good English proficiency is a necessary prerequisite. Good programing skills are expected. Previous experience with eye tracking/AR/VR/mathematics/machine learning/signal processing is a plus.

Dr. Komogortsev’s short bio: Dr. Komogortsev conducts research in eye tracking with a focus on user authentication, health assessment, human computer interaction, usability, and bioengineering. This work has thus far yielded more than 100 publications and several patent applications. Dr. Komogortsev had previously held various professorships at such entities as Johns Hopkins University, University of Notre Dame, Michigan State University, and Facebook Reality Labs. Dr. Komogortsev’s research was covered by the national media including NBC News, Discovery, Yahoo, Livesience and others. Dr. Komogortsev is a recipient of four Google Faculty Research Awards and one Facebook Faculty Research Award. Dr. Komogortsev has also won Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists/Engineers (PECASE) from President Barack Obama on the topic of cybersecurity with the emphasis on eye movement-driven biometrics and health assessment. PECASE is "the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers".
