In these difficult times with Covid-19 we hope that this E-Journal brings a positive upbeat message for our neurodiverse communities. The articles are in the following sections: Policy and Good Practice, Strategy in the Creative Industries, Inclusivity and Employment and Supported Access to Employment.
We would like to thank all our contributors to the E-Journal: ACAS, Prospect UK, Katherine Kindersley, Dyslexia Scotland, Charles Freeman, Disability Collaborative Network, Dr James Richard, AchieveAbility with St Mungo’s, Diversity and Ability (DnA), DFN Charitable Foundation, Klaudia Matasovska and Inclusion North.
We have maintained the research and editorial standards expected by more formal research-based journals, however this AchieveAbility E-Journal takes an inclusive editorial policy to encourage the particular experience, original thinking and preferred communication styles, formats and media of contributors.
We would like to invite you to contribute to our twitter feed and throughout this week. Our twitter handle is @AchieveAbility1 and the hashtag will be #InclusiveWork. We would welcome retweets, comments to raise the profile of this latest work from AchieveAbility on neurodiverse talent in the workforce. We will then be asking key questions and themes from the e-journal on twitter from Tuesday 14 April.
Key themes for discussion:
Flexible working, reasonable adjustments in the workforce, the Creative Industries
Developing good inclusive practice as a workforce and how these benefit the team and the organisation.
In October 2020 we will aim to set up an event to debate the philosophy and purpose of the Journal; which is to enable neurodivergent writers and practitioners to find new audiences. We hope to do this through new submissions to the next E-Journal. We are especially pleased that the majority of the contributors to this first issue identify as neurodivergent.
All this work has been done on a voluntary basis. Our excellent designer Kendall Bickford produced this interactive E –Journal within a very tight budget; funded by AchieveAbility. In the meantime we are very pleased provide a forum for exchange and debate that informs policy, strategy and practice for neurodiverse voices in the workplace.
